the back story

"as we see it" is a collaborative photoblog featuring works from long-distance friends who met via a pregnancy and parenting message board. As our baby boys -- all born in July 1999 -- grew, so did our friendship. In our 2009 photoblog, the view from here, we each posted a daily photo. In 2010, we posted our own interpretations of a weekly set theme.

In 2011, we changed focus. Each week was to be dedicated to a letter of the alphabet; and it was up to the photographers to decide how to interpret each letter. In 2011’s alphabetical approach, we once again hoped to stretch our skills, look at everyday items in a different light, and learn from each other and from our readers. We planned to cycle through the alphabet a full two times in 2011. But we got bored.

Starting in September of 2011, we decided to utilize some photo challenge ideas from Digital Photography School (and maybe others) for each week's focus. We also decided to switch to our iPhone cameras from the DSLR's we have been using primarily over the last several years.

Because we were all enjoying using our iPhones, at the beginning of 2012 we decided to switch over to a blog platform we could post easily to directly from our phones. You can find us at as we see it on Posterous going forward. We hope to see you there!
